I am excited that I am losing weight despite not focusing hard on working out. As of right now, my only conditioning lacrosse and basketball.
I am proud of the fact that I have virtually cut sugar out of my diet as well as sugar. I can see the benefits of using alternatives. Sobe water and Truvia (sugar substitute) are my best friends these days and I don't even feel like I am sacrificing anything. I also have fcoused hard on eating frequently, but eating smart. The one day I wasn't prepared at school with snacks, I noticed how hungry I was and how much I ate.
I am hoping when the weather gets nicer, I will be inspired to workout and RUN.

Slowly Making Lifestyle Changes
I am glad that I have dropped 6 pounds thus far. Most of the weight loss didn't come from a dramatic increase in exercise, but primarily due to changing eating habits.
Some of the changes in my eating habits are the following:
1. No Coke - SOBE water is my new drink of choice
2. Sugar substitute - Has been an easy transition
3. 5 - 7 meals a day. Using a book that shows me how to snack/eat effectively.
4. Buy products that are healthier (ex: wheat bread, cottage cheese)
The good thing is that all of these changes are easy to do.
My next step is to increase my workouts. I play in a lacrosse league on Saturdays and pick up basketball on Tuesday nights, but haven't been consistent with working out.
I did start off today with a good workout. Plan is to work out 4 times this week in addition to my lax/basketball.
Here's to a healthier Tony!

RACE DAY RESULTS
First of all Happy New Year to All!
It was a great evening last night as I ran the 4 mile race! The weather was cool, but not enough to blame any results on the elements. I finished the race with a time of 33 minutes and 35 seconds with an average mile pace of 8 minutes 24 seconds. I have to admit it was better than expected. However, I have a long road ahead of me, but I am excited about the journey. I was excited to know that I came in in the top third #401 out of 1400 people.
I am going to continue to focus on nutrition and on exercising regularly. I will also keep my competitive edge by participating in pick up basketball and a box and field lacrosse league.

SIGNED UP FOR 4 MILER RACE
Yesterday I signed up for a 4 mile race with Pacers (Fairfax, VA). It will give me a baseline of how much I need to improve. I can tell you that at my peak, I ran a 5:55 mile (freshman year of college). Of course, my goal is not to get back to there, but to be in the 7-8 minute range,

Actually Doing Instead of Talking!
Today I took my first step towards losing weight and getting into shape. I took a picture of myself to remind me of how much I need to lose weight, I weighed myself -215 pounds and I started a workout in the basement.
Second step is to keep doing the workouts and to work on the nutrition piece.

Time For a Change
I created this site because I need some inspiration. The inspiration that I am looking for is to to motivate me to exercise. Currently I play lacrosse once a week and may play basketball one week a night. However, I know that this isn't enough to get me in shape.
This is where you come in. I am going to create a log of my workouts, eating habits and my weight. I am also going to add pictures so that I (and you can see progress). I hope that you will help support me by encouraging my progress as well as letting "me have it" if I don't.
